2026 Rooted in Christ Topics

Our Theme for the Year 2026

In a world dominated by hopelessness, due to the extent of darkness and evil all around, this year God deepened our understanding of hope. The world may lose hope, but committed Christians should not. Because the world puts its hope in man, in institutions, in secular power, in false gods, which inevitably fail them. But our hope is in Christ, who is King of kings and Lord or lords. Jesus is all-powerful and never changes, so our hope based on him abounds.

We in MFC have done well, through persevering prayer, endurance in affliction, and rejoicing in hope. But as we look around us, we see many so-called Christians and even whole Christian churches not really living the fullness of Christ.
  • Sects carry the name of Christ and even preach on the Bible but do not consider Jesus as God, and so are not Christians at all but cults.
  • Some Christian churches accept elements of the culture of DEATH, such as abortion and LGBT.
  • Even the Catholic Church, which is the one true Church established by Jesus himself, has modernists among her hierarchy, teaching heresy to the flock.
And how about the so-called Christians themselves, who may even go through the motions of living the Christian life?
  • Very many Christians in the West, especially in Europe and the Americas, accept such abominations as abortion and LGBT.
  • Many Christians in government in the Philippines, up to the highest levels, livea culture of corruption.
  • Ordinary lay Christians go through life committing sins such as theft, slander, lying, greed, assault on others.
We in MFC see the big picture, and continue to be solidly formed in the faith, but could unwittingly be swayed by the acts of our relatives, secular co-workers and close friends. They are after all nice people, many of them even going to Church!

With the evil one intensifying his assault on God and His people, with the secular environment becoming increasingly anti-God, anti-family and anti-life, we need to do more in securing the fullness of our faith. We need to be more and more deeply rooted in Christ.

We are indeed already built up on him, as we have put our full trust in him and are living his way of life. Our roots in Christ are firmly established. But we want to go even deeper. In the year 2026 we will strive to do that.

And so our theme for 2026 is:

ROOTED IN CHRIST

Living the Call, Walking in Mission

Our theme verse is from Colossians 2:6-7 (NJB).

You must live your whole life according to
the Christ you have received—Jesus the Lord;
you must be rooted in him and built on him
and held firm by the faith you have been taught,
and full of thanksgiving.

We have been called by Jesus, and we have been living out that call, just as we received Jesus Christ the Lord. Our journey of faith begins with Christ. We have met Christ, known Christ, are living Christ, and are sharing Christ. In MFC, this is the foundation of everything we are. Jesus is at the center of our identity. We are missionary families not because of our own efforts but because we first received Christ as Savior and Lord.

And so we continue to live our lives in Jesus. We walk each day in and with him. Faith is not static; it is dynamic, unfolding day-by-day. We are in a continuing journey. We let Jesus shape our thoughts, decisions and relationships. For MFC, this means living our vocation daily—spouses serving each other, parents guiding their children, youth growing in holiness, singles witnessing through their purity and service. Living in him transforms ordinary family life into a dynamic testimony for the gospel.

To accomplish these in an even more powerful way this coming 2026, we must be more deeply rooted in Jesus. Roots anchor and nourish. Rooted in him, we will not easily be shaken by trials or the shifting values of the world. Such roots are nourished through prayer, Scripture, the Eucharist, and our life in community. In MFC, households and ministries provide fertile ground for roots to grow even deeper. The stronger the roots, the more resilient our families and our mission become.

We must be built on Jesus and no one or nothing else. Jesus is our foundation, and he is the Rock upon which our homes and community are built. This means strength but also growth, as we move to the full stature of Christ. We do not just survive but thrive in him. In MFC this means sustaining strong pastoral support groups, nurturing vocations, raising future generations of missionary disciples. It means continuing formation—through teachings, pastoral care, and service.

We must be held firm by the faith we have been taught. Such faith is grounded on truth. We are blessed with the Church’s teaching and tradition. But we need to learn more, so that we can distinguish false heretical teaching, at times coming from Church hierarchs. In MFC, we are never to compromise with the world or attune ourselves to the zeitgeist, an empty, seductive philosophy according to human tradition. We are to guard what has been authentically taught by the Church and the Bible, and hand these on faithfully to our children.

On top of these all, we are to abound in thanksgiving. How can we not be grateful to our Lord for all these blessings? We recognize that all is grace, that we are still here as a community, not just surviving but thriving, because of God’s faithfulness. Brimming in thanksgiving keeps us humble, joyful, and hopeful. In MFC, gratitude is expressed in our worship, in our service, and in our willingness to give back to God through our mission.

These are crucial times in the life of the world and of our Church. Whatever is happening, we in MFC are to be firm in our faith in Christ. All is in place. We just need to take firm hold of what we have, and live our life in Christ to the full.

Parts of a Household Topic

(In Suggested Monthly Household Topics)

  1. GRAB – This part introduces the topic in a creative manner. It is a light and interactive question that requires just a top-of-mind answer.
  2. GRACE – This is the main part of the household topic. It contains the anchor text from the Bible and a text that expounds the verse and the topic. It is therefore, important to teach and encourage your members to bring their own Bibles during your household meeting.
  3. GATHER – This is the part where the household members share their realizations and learnings from the household topic. The household servant processes the sharings after all have taken their turn.
  4. GO FORTH – After discussing everyone’s thoughts and realizations, challenge your members to apply their learning from the household to their lives. The Household Servant should check if they have done the challenge on the following meeting.
  5. GIVE – This is the part where the household servant talks to the covenanted members about tithing. This pastoral role of household servants is done once a month to remind everyone that God is Generous and that we have to be good stewards by consistent Spiritual Giving, our tithing. Personal Sharing Household Guide

There is a particular topic with the inspiration and inputs being gathered from the actual personal sharing. Ex. Topic: Pray Time, Question: How is your prayer time? The household servant seeks for the Spiritual Growth of the household members.

Three basic ingredients of a life Giving Household are worship, discussion/sharing and fellowship.  It must follow the prescribed times for each aspect.

30 mins – WORSHIP

  • Led by the Household Servant who is the worship leader, the Household members must participate actively in the singing and the prayers. They should be open to receiving and sharing the Word from the Lord. There should be words from the Lord (prophecy and/or Scripture Reading), Individual prayers of thanksgiving and petition. They must have the faith to know that they are in the presence of Jesus, and accord Him the praise and worship that is due Him.

60 mins – PERSONAL SHARING

  • Guided by a particular topic, everyone may share any personal blessings, challenges, prayer intentions, status of your relationship with God and with your spouse, or messages from the Lord that you want your household to know and pray about. This is gathering inspiration from each other, bearing each other’s burdens and sharing each other’s joys.
  • Sample Topic for discussion: How is your prayer time?

10 mins – CLOSING EXHORTATION AND CLOSING PRAYER / LEADING OF THE HOLY SPIRIT

  • As the spirit leads the Household Servant will gather the personal sharings and God’s words together and gives a short closing exhortation. During the closing prayer, the prayer leader will also pray over the birthday and wedding anniversary celebrants.

5 mins – ANNOUNCEMENTS

  • Give reminders regarding the following: schedule of the next household, who is the next host; monthly activities; give tithes and other matters. Encourage journaling of God’s messages and leading.
  • Give: God is Generous and in response, let us be good stewards by consistent Spiritual Giving, our tithing. For Tithes Remittance of NCR Members: bit.ly/mfctithes
