OBEYING GOD’S COMMANDMENTS

Today’s gospel: Matthew 5:17-19
Modernists in the Church today are disobeying God’s commandments. Here are a number among many false teachings and actions:
- All religions are ways to the divine, and so those who are not Catholics should not be converted into the Catholic faith. So what happened to God’s command not to have other gods besides Him?
- The idol pachamama can be venerated (worshipped?) and even placed in a Vatican cathedral. But did not God say you shall not make an idol and bow down before it?
- Telling the gay person that God made him that way. Since this is false, is this not invoking the name of the Lord in vain?
- Those who are rabidly pro-abortion can receive Holy Communion. So it is OK to be rabidly pro-abortion? But God says, “You shall not kill.” Is not the murder of the unborn killing? Further, we are to keep the sabbath holy, and for us Catholics that is the Sunday Eucharist. But is it not defaming Jesus when we unworthily partake of the consecrated bread?
- Those who are divorced and remarried may receive Holy Communion. If the couple is into active sex, is this not adultery which a previously sacramentally married Catholic is not to commit?
Modernists say we must conform to the current culture of the age, and that we should turn away from dead traditions. But Jesus says, “Do not think that I have come to abolish the law or the prophets. I have come not to abolish but to fulfill.” (v.17). Jesus says that until the end of time, not even the smallest part of a letter will pass from the law (v.18). Is it not arrogance on the part of modernist hierarchs to presume to be able to change God’s laws and to reinterpret, wrongly, age-old Church teachings?
Jesus says that if we break even the least of God’s commands, and teach others to do so, we will be least in the Kingdom, and if we obey, and teach, these commands, we will be called the greatest (v.19). The way forward for Catholics is to obey God and not modernist hierarchs who distort the word of God and the teachings of Christ.
So Jesus told his disciples to surpass the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, who were the learned and religious leaders of his time, so as to enter into the Kingdom of Heaven (v.20). Modernist hierarchs may seem to be holy, but they may be keeping you from entering into God’s Kingdom.
