FROM THE SERVANT GENERAL
TRANSITION 2025
PASSING ON THE TORCH
Feast of St Joseph
March 19, 2025
“There is an appointed time for everything”
(Ecclesiastes 3:1)
My dear brethren in MFC,
God’s peace be with you all.
MFC is a dynamic community, now having grown for over 43 years. In all this time, members and leaders have come and gone. Our brethren grow in age, moving through the Sections, and our servant leaders also grow in their service, giving of themselves as the Lord has equipped them. God has always provided.
There is an appointed time for everything, and now it is time for me to pass on the torch. I am appointing a new Servant General (SG) to replace me, effective today.
I have various reasons for doing so, including health concerns and advanced age (I am 78). For the past few years, I have not been able to move around as I had been doing before. But there is need for an SG who is more robust and better able to handle the challenges in our continuing life and mission.
MFC is blessed to have a deep bench of capable leaders, a number of them being SG material. In fact, as I have been out of direct day-to-day governance since 2018, the ongoing work has been ably done by our Servant Council supported by many well-formed elders throughout the world. I have full confidence in them all.
So today, after extensive consultations with the International Body of Counselors and our top leaders in the world, I am appointing Xavy Padilla as the new Servant General.
Xavy has a solid spiritual and prayer life, a family being raised up in Christ, and wide exposure to MFC life and missions.
- In our community since Kids (via MFC predecessors).
- A member of the Servant Council of the Philippines since 2018.
- International Mission Coordinator (IMC) since July 2022. As IMC he directly assisted me in overseeing and coordinating the worldwide mission of MFC.
- A member of the International Body of Counselors (IBC) since July 2022. The IBC is a small group of top worldwide seniors (elders) who act as counselors to the SG.
- The President of LAIKO (the Sangguniang Laiko ng Pilipinas or Council of the Laity of the Philippines), an umbrella group intended to further lay involvement in the Church.
As for myself, I shall continue with my mission of proclaiming Christ and acting as a prophetic voice within our Church. I will always be here for MFC as founder.
I thank you for your support in all these years, and I look to your full support for the incoming SG. We continue to journey together, for the furtherance of the Kingdom, through the life and mission of MFC.
St Joseph, Protector of the family and of the Church, pray for us.
SALVE REGINA.
God bless you all.
