FROM THE SERVANT GENERAL
MODERNISM
(Part 60)
FAILING TO SEE OR UNDERSTAND
February 14, 2023
Today’s reading: Mark 8:14-21
Today’s gospel points out more things to us about modernism.
Jesus reminded his disciples of the two times he multiplied the loaves and fishes (v.18b-20). Liberals and modernists in the Church say there was no miraculous multiplication, but rather just the “miracle” of sharing that happened among the people. There are also those who say the feeding of the 5,000 and the 4,000 were just two versions of the same event. But clearly there were two events (there could have been more but no longer recorded), which Jesus himself mentions in this passage. The numbers of those fed and the numbers of leftovers are different.
Jesus also enjoined the disciples, “Watch out, guard against the leaven of the Pharisees and the leaven of Herod.” (v.15). The Pharisees were the religious leaders in Jesus’ time, while Herod was the head of state. Today, modernists have come into the Church, including among hierarchs, while liberals have invaded governments and other authoritative bodies in the world. Worse, today Big Church and Big State have come together to dominate society, to bring about a New World Order ruled by globalist unelected elites. Watch out and guard against them.
I have been talking about modernists in our Church for a long time. “Do you not yet understand or comprehend? Are your hearts hardened? Do you have eyes and not see, ears and not hear?” (v.17b-18a).
- Do you still accept the false teachings of modernists? Or do you accept the false teachings because you do not know the Bible and the authentic teachings of Jesus and the Church?
- Are you silent when false teachings are given, thus enabling the continuing deception of the faithful?
- Are you deceived about just being nice to each other, which mandates that you do not speak about sin which is offensive? For the sinner being nice to, it is false mercy and keeps him in his sin.
- Do you reject your prophetic calling, preferring not to speak out against false teachers, lest you yourself get into trouble?
“Do you still not understand?” (v.21).
